Fleece Coolant Bypass Kit (Auto Trans) for 2006-2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins

If you tow with a 2006-2007 5.9L automatic, this bypass belongs on it.

Cummins rear cylinders get less coolant flow and run hottest, which builds pressure that can blow freeze plugs on the block or under the valve cover. The Fleece bypass adds a secondary thermostat that, unlike other brands, works on temperature instead of excessive pressure, so all six cylinders stay even.

Note: The '03-'07 5.9L automatic transmission version will eliminate the factory transmission fluid heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is not a fluid cooler; it was designed for use in cold climates to warm the transmission fluid with the engine coolant. It is not necessary for use in warm climates or high horsepower applications, nor does it detrimentally affect the truck's performance when removed. All 07-13 6.7 trucks, both automatic and manual equipped transmissions, do not have a transmission fluid heat exchanger.

Why we run it

This is a reliability part worth adding to a 2006-2007 automatic 5.9L. It adds a second, temperature based thermostat that gets coolant to the starved rear cylinders, evens out temps across the block and keeps pressure from building up. Braided hose, AN O-ring fittings and billet brackets come in the kit. PPEI recommends it for any 5.9L that pulls a trailer, and we run Fleece bypass kits on our own trucks.
